UAE INITIATES THE 10 YEAR BLUE VISA PROMOTING SUSTAINABILITY

Dubai makes a significant move in recognising the need for sustainable and eco-friendly measures with the launch of the initial-phase of UAE’s ‘Blue Visa’ program. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, joined hands with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP), in introducing this 10-year visa for 20 globally-recognised leaders and innovators who actively support and promote sustainable living. This initiative was launched alongside the World Governments Summit 2025, held in Dubai from February 11 to 13. Eligibility for this new visa is determined by the level of influence & impact that the specific individual has contributed toward sustainability, within or outside the UAE. The residency visa was granted to multiple individuals, including international award winners, members of NGOs, members of multinational companies, and activists committed to environmental progress.

Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted that this visa program is an extension of the previously launched ‘Golden’ and ‘Green’ visa initiatives. As Dubai cements its position as a premier global-hub for multiple industries, maintaining eco-friendly and sustainable practices is of utmost importance for its progression. Recognising and rewarding individuals who take leadership in this movement is expected to inspire a wider shift toward sustainability across the UAE.
